Billy Ray McCoy Sr. Obituary

November 14, 1955 - November 19, 2024

Billy Ray McCoy, Sr., age 69, of Dayton, TN, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and loved ones on November 19, 2024. Billy was the son of the late J.C. and Juanita “Shorty” (Nichols) McCoy, and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Doyle McCoy, Charles McCoy, Joyce Leffew, Ricky McCoy and Patsy Johnson.

Billy was born and raised in Rhea County and worked his entire career spanning over 45 years in carpentry and building. He was a skilled craftsman who could build and create anything. Billy was a man of God and a longtime member of the Cove Chapel Church of God. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed all things outdoors, including gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years Sheila McCoy of Dayton, TN, son Billy McCoy II (Levi Robinson) of Chattanooga, TN, daughter Carman (Shannon) Bishop, special granddaughter Carlee Bishop, and Delores (Rick) Bishop all of Dayton, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their support and send a special thank you to nurses Maureen and Jenny.

Funeral services for Billy will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor L. J. Davis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Cranmore Cove Cemetery.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
