RCHS Senior Matthew Earns Scholarship

Dayton, TN -- Ariel Matthew was one of three area high school graduates awarded a BTC Fiber $1,000.00 scholarship. These graduates all plan to enroll in college this fall and their parents are BTC fiber members. Students were eligible to compete by writing an essay about rural broadband and its impact on the future. Emma Bradford of Sequatchie County High School and Kaidence Thomas of Bledsoe County High School. Kaidence will attend the University of Tennessee and Emma will attend Tennessee Tech University.
Ariel Matthew is the daughter of David and Scarlett Matthew. She was a Rhea County Academic Champion, a member of the 2019 American Legion Auxiliary, was a Volunteer Girls State delegate and member of the National Society of High School Scholars, 4-H Club and National Art Honor society. She served as Rhea County High School's Key Club president. Ariel plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University and obtain her master's degree and pursue her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist.
