October 1, 1931 ~ October 1, 2024

    O’Neil Smith of Dayton, Tn passed away on October 1, 2024. Born October 1, 1931, at Laruel, KY, the son of John Edward and Cynthia Jane Smith. He lived in Northwest Tn. until 1991, after retiring from Bethlehem Steel Company. He and his wife Josephine moved to Rhea Co. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the Korean war with the 9th Regiment of the 2nd Infantry Division.

            O’Neil was proceeded in death by his wife; Josephine Yocum Smith, his parents; John and Cynthia Smith, three brothers; Chester Lee, Thomas and Johnny Smith, two sisters; Ruby and Joyce Ann and son-n-law Gary Jones.

 He is survived by his daughter; Thea Jones, granddaughter; Kristine Czebiniak and two beautiful great grandsons Justin and Ryan Czebiniak, all of Williamson NY, Plus many nephews and nieces.

            Graveside services will be 2pm Sunday October 6, 2024, at Spence Cemetery with Dr. Danny Ruehling officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be sent to New Union Baptist Church Mission Fund 4060 Double S Road Dayton, Tn 37321
