Albert Vaughn (AV) Ray Obituary

February 10, 1941 - September 26, 2024

Albert Vaughn (AV) Ray went to be with the Lord his heavenly father and Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior the morning of September 26, 2024.  AV’s hope for all his family and friends was that they come to know Jesus Christ as their savior; get right with the Lord.  AV was baptized December 25, 1988, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served many years as trustee and president of the usher board.  AV moved his membership to First Christian Community Church and served many years as president of the trustee board and was an active member until his health prevented his attendance.

AV was born February 10, 1941 to Will and Katherine (Hickey) Ray.  AV graduated Carver High School in 1959 and worked almost 20 years at Old Dominion Box Company as a machinist.  From 1986 through 2018 AV worked as a custodian at Dayton City School.  Between Old Dominion Box and Dayton City School AV worked at Polyloom and Kayser Roth.

AV was preceded in death by his parents, his Brother Fred (Zero) Ray, Sisters Betty Jean Ray, Louise Ray, Mary Watson, and Christine Sharp.  Sister-in-law Katherine (Katie) Ray, and special niece Nellevene Ray.

AV is survived by his wife and companion of 45 years Robin (Sells) Ray, his daughter Jennifer (John) Jordan of Fall River, MA, granddaughter Evangeline Jordan of Fall River, MA step-son Nathan Dyer, and brother George Ray of Reno, NV.  Also numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews many friends and coworkers.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 2PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12 until the start of the service.  Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery in Spring City.
