Dayton City Gives Sale Creek First Loss of Season Behind Walton and Barnes
9/19/24 Sale Creek, TN -- Dayton City School traveled to Sale Creek on Thursday 9/19/24 for middle school football. After a scoreless first quarter, Dayton City was first on the scoreboard with Sam Walton scoring on a 22-yard run for the 6-0 lead(5:11 on the 2nd quarter clock) that remained 6-0 after unsuccessful 2-point conversion. Dayton pushed the lead to 12-0 with 3:18 left in the 2nd quarter as Barnes connected with Walton for an 8-yard pass completion. Another unsuccessful conversion left the score at 12-0 into halftime.
No scoring in the 3rd quarter before Barnes and Walton hooked up for an 81 yard touchdown pass with 2:50 left in game. Walton's point-after-touchdown kick was good to push Sweat Bees lead to 19-0. Sale Creek had a late score on a 24-yard run and then added a 2-point conversion with 1:50 left in the game and that was the final score.
Dayton City will be on the road again on Thursday, September 26th at Harriman with 7 pm kickoff. Field is located at Rhea County High School, 920 N. Roane Street, Harriman, Tennessee.
