4/1/24, Athen, TN -- McMinn County won 8-1 Over Rhea County in a game played at McMinn County High School. McMinn took command early in the game with 2 runs in second and 3 more in the third for the 5-0 lead. Cherokees held on for 8-1 win. Ty Barnett picked up the win for McMinn with five innings of 5 hit ball. Barnett gave up 4 walks, while striking out 11. On the mound for Rhea were Pendergrass and Love. Each gave up 6 hits in 3 innings. Pendergrass gave up 5 runs and Love gave up 3 runs.
At the plate, Dawson Mickel led the Eagles with 2 hits and 2 walks on the night. Rex Pendergrass had an RBI and Riley scored the Eagle run. Hunter McDonald had 3 hits, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, with a Home Run on the night to lead the Cherokees.
