Mr. Locke Receives Lucille Mayberry for 2019 From Spring City Chamber

Spring City, TN -- At the Spring City Chamber Banquet for 2019, Leon Locke received theLucille Mayberry Community Service Award for 2019. Leon was very excited and humbled to receive the award. Before taking the stage, his many volunteers roles were read and crowd roared approval when his name was announced. Around the community, response was very positive for Mr. Locke.

Mr Lock was employed at Kayser Roth for 38 years but during his years off work he was member of Rescue Squad since 1978, acting as President during that time.

The recipient of the Lucille Mayberry award this year is definitely a familiar face in Spring City. He was Graduate of Spring City High School in 1974 and has 3 daughters and 1 granddaughter. Leon served as board member of Spring City AYSO Soccer Association since 2006. He has also volunteered with the Rhea County Fair and has served as coach and referee. Not only has Leon been busy, but he has been building relationships along the way. Mr. Locke was a very fitting choice for the award for 2019.

He currently holds the position of Director of Parks and Recreation for Rhea County. He can be seen all over the county working and helping anyone that calls.

Quality Control Lead

• Worked as both a knitting technician and a sample processing technician
• Operated within the quality control field for 31 years
• Responsible for all finishing machinery settings
• Directly oversaw all quality control issues including the formulation of resolutions
• Heavily Involved in research & development; coming up with new designs and presenting these designs to corporate management
• Acting Plant Fire Chief and Plant Safety Director for approximately 30 years
• Achievement of Resources Management Implementation Kayser Roth 1986
• He has been a member of the Rhea County Rescue Squad since 1978.
• Served as President of the Rescue Squad since 1986.
• Appointed Chaplain of the Rescue Squad in 1990
• Assisted in the design and manufacturing of Rescue Squad’s first fire trucks
• Instrumental in the remodeling of the Spring City Rescue Squad building
• First responder with extensive training in all emergency services including the use of life saving vehicles and equipment, evacuation and emergency extraction
• Evaluation of structural integrity and safety in the line of duty
• Member of the Tri-County Saddle Club based in Spring City for approximately 5 years
• President of Spring City Girls Softball Association since 2012
  • Participation in multiple fundraisers including a womanless beauty pageant to fund the building of a new softball field
• Board member of Spring City AYSO Soccer Association since 2006
• Certified Coach and Referee
• Volunteer for the Rhea County Fair
• Instrumental in the completion of the rebuild of Rhea Springs
