Rhea Wins Big at Lenoir City 56-0

Eagles dominate on offense and defense to move to 4-0 in Region Play and 5-2 overall

Lenoir City received the kick and began on the 20 yard line. Trystan Odum with tackle for loss on first play. The Eagle defense forced a punt on 3rd down forcing a punt to put Eagles at the 50 yard line for first possession. Fugategoes for 4 yards. Schmitt passed to Davis for 5 yards. Schmitt runs for 41 yards for a touchdown. Rasnake with the extra point kick for 7-0 lead.

Kickoff was returned to the 20 yard line. Rhea County forced a punt after 3 plays. Punt was returned by Odum to the Lenoir City 44 yard line. Schmitt completes a 5 yard pass to Brock. Odum made a first down run to the 31 yardline. Troy Brown runs for 2 yards. Schmitt's throw to the endzone goes incomplete. The Eagles decided to go for it on 4th down and 8. Schmitt hits Fugate for first down completion to the 19 yardline. Schmitt runs down to the 4 yardline for a first-and-goal. Schmitt runs again to the 1 yardline. Fugate scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. Rasnake kicks the extra point for a 14-0 lead with 3:50 left in the first quarter.

Rasnake's kick found the endzone and Panthers began their second drive on their own 20 yard line. Quarterback Austun Hunt found Caden Jay for a 7-yard gain. The Panthers made a first down on a short pass. Caden Jay ran for 9 yards for Lenoir City and then moved the ball into Eagles' territory for first down. Lenoir City thought they had earned a first down on 4th-down catch down to the 5 yard line, but a false start penalty wiped the big play off the board. After the penalty, Lenoir City punted and the ball was downed on the Eagles' 1 yardline.

Sophomore Troy Brown took the handoff and went 99 yards for the Eagle's third touchdown. Rhea County decided to go for two and were successful for the 22-0 lead as the first quarter wound down. Unofficially that is a new Rhea County record, breaking Shelton's 93 yard return record from 1993.

Lenoir City received the kickoff and returned the ball to the 31 yardline. A Lenoir City 1-yard run brought an end to the first quarter. The Panthers found a hole up the middle for a nice run. A short run by Jay earned a first down at the Eagles 44 yard line. After an incompletion, Eagles were called for offsides, and Lenoir City ran for a first down at the 33 yardline of Rhea County. Hunt had another completion for 6 yards. Austun Fugate put an end to the drive with an interception and returned to the Eagles' territory.

Lenoir City tackled Brown for a 3 yard loss. Schmitt had incompetion. The Eagles had to punt after a 1-yard gain. Fugate punted and Lenoir City began the next drive at their 22 yard line. Hunt found Jay for a 7-yard gain. Jay gained a first down at the 32 yard line on a Panther run with 5:55 left in the game. Zeke Romero came up with an interception, which he returned 35 yards for a touchdown. The kick by Rasnake was good for a 29-0 lead.

The kick from Rhea County bounced out at the 6 yard line. The Panthers gained a first down. Defensive holding gave Lenoir City a first down. Hunt found Jay for short gain to the 29 yardline. Hunt threw a couple of incompletions bringing up 4th and 9 for Panthers. The Lenoir City punt was almost blocked when Brown Eagles began possession at Lenoir City territory. Schmitt found Quinton Davis for first down inside the 30 yard line. Schmitt made the next first-down on a scramble down to the 14 yardline. After an incompletion, Odum ran for a 14 yard touchdown. Rasnake kicked the extra point for a 36-0 lead.

Fugates kick was returned to the 15 yard line with 1:26 left in the half. Hunt completed a pass to Kingston Douglas and Lenoir ran for first down at the 27 yard line. Hunt had scrambled for several yards for first down at the 40 yard line, before a personal foul(crackback block) erased the gain. The Panthers gained a nice chunk of yardage to the 37 yard line. Jay completed the half with a short run.

Aaron Almanza kicked the second half kick to Samuel Sanchez, the short man on the kickoff formation. Sanchez returned the ball to the 44 yardline of Lenoir City. Schmitt had an incompetion, the hit Brock, who took the ball to the 37 yard line. Troy Brown picked up a first down at the 32 yardline. Kerley took the ball down to the 11 yardline. Brown took the ball into the endzone for another Eagle touchdown. The Eagles' kick put the Eagles up 42-0.

The Eagle's kick was returned by Jay to the 22 yard line. Hunt found Jay for a short gain. Bentlee Fullam came up with an interception which he returned to the 15 yard line. Schmitt found Fugate for a 15-yard touchdown completion and Rasnake added the kick for 49-0 lead as the clock approached 5 minute left in third quarter.

The Eagles' kick was a touchback giving Lenoir City the ball at their own 20 yard line. Hunt had a short competitor to Phillips for one yard. After another short run, Tyler Brown found the quarterback for a sack. The punt by Lenior rolled out of bounds at Lenoir City's 39 yard line. Caleb Chance had a nice run down to the 16 yard line as the 3rd quarter wound down. Chance's next run went for about 3 yards as the 3rd quarter clock expired. Chance added about 5 yards and then earned an Eagle first down as he ran the ball down inside the five and on the next play scored the touchdown. Rasnake was successful on kick for 56-0 score.

The Rhea County kick went into the endzone and Lenoir City began possession at the 20 yard line. Brian Phillips moved over to quarterback for the Panthers. Rhea County brought in a big group of subs. Eagles picked up a face mask penalty. Phillips went for incompletion. A short run brought up 4th down. Lenoir City had a nice completion for a first down. Lenoir City moved the ball inside the 20 with time running out in the game. The horn sounded with Lenoir city inside the Eagles' 10 yard line and Rhea had secured the 56-0 win. Eagles now get a week off with bye week next week before returning home for a game vs Loudon on 10-16-26.
