Johnny Olinger Obituary

November 13, 1947 - October 16, 2025 

Johnny Olinger, age 77, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
He was born in Dayton, Tennessee, on November 13, 1947, to George and Maggie Morgan Olinger.

Johnny was a lifelong resident of the area and a man of the Baptist faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked in quality assurance for a turf manufacturing company. Johnny was known as a devoted husband, father, brother, and “Pawpaw.” He loved the outdoors, enjoyed traveling, and had a lifelong passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerry Olinger; one sister, Betty Potter Thurman; and a son, Robert Allen Olinger.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Olinger; one daughter, Laura (Rodney) Davis; stepchildren, Sky (Scott) Wheeler and Chance (Heather) Draper; and one sister, Peggy Olinger. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Conor Ashley, Draper and Lucy Wheeler, Sydney (Austin) Fugate, Ben (Dayna) Davis, and Jake (Tanisha) Davis, and great-grandchildren, Carter Allen Fugate and Michael Allen Davis. Loving niece and nephews, Maggie (Randall) Masengale, Johnny (Tia) Smith, and Rocky (Emma) Potter. Along with numerous great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Morgan Springs Cemetery, with Pastor Ron Parsons and Pastor Jimmy Jewell officiating.
