Francis Smith age 84 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on July 12, 1941 to the late Glen F. and Marie Bolton Smith and was a lifetime resident of the area. Francis was a graduate of Spring City High School “Class of 1959”. He spent a majority of his working career at DuPont in Chattanooga. Francis was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City where he sung in the choir. He loved to fish and do woodworking.

Francis is preceded in death by his sisters Charlotte Smith, Emily Travis, Mary Ann Stepp, and Glenna Tudor, his brother Ronnie Smith, and his half-brother Pat Douglas.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Smith of Spring City, Tennessee; his sons Keith (Paula) Smith of Spring City, Tennessee and Kevin (Teresa) Smith of Grandview, Tennessee; his brother Steve (Karen) Smith of Spring City, Tennessee; his sister Brenda (Ronnie) Dodson of Mechanicsville, Virginia; his grandchildren Jessica (Jonathon) Eads, Collin (Katie) Smith, Evan (Claudia) Smith, Lindsay (Riley) Bass, Casey (April) Stryker, and Kristin (Zack) Nichols; and his great grandchildren Reed Bass, Gauge Stryker, Millie Stryker, Riley Nichols, and Marlee Nichols.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the First Baptist Church of Spring City, 374 W. Jackson Ave., Spring City, Tennessee 37381 in his memory.
