Essie Mae Owens Johnson, age 68, of Dayton, entered into the arms of her Savior on June 23, 2025. She was born in Hamilton County to Delmer Lee Owens and Frances Elizabeth Fields Owens.

Essie enjoyed working, gardening, and cooking big meals for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 33 years, Arthur Johnson; and her brothers, Verlon and Johnny Owens.

Essie is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Robert) Martin and Nadine Johnson Miller; three grandchildren, Waylon Martin, Zachary (Cayenne) Neal, and Haley Neale; and two great-grandchildren, Kayson Perry and Kyler Neale.

She also leaves behind two brothers, Delmer and Daniel Owens; three sisters, Naomi Hart, Martha Owens, and Betty Porter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home, with Bro. Danny Prior officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. She will be laid to rest in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Essie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
