Eagles Win 1-0 Over Ooltewah on Senior Night
4/24/25 Evensville, TN
Senior night festivities started off with rainy weather to start the day but cleared off into a beautiful evening to play soccer on Thursday, 4-24-25. The JV started off the night vs. the Owls with a dominant start of play by Anderson Cathey, who scored 2 goals within the first 10 minutes of play in the first half, and Sawyer Campbell, who added another goal to make a score of 3-0 at halftime. The second half saw another dominant performance by the Eagles, not allowing any shots on their net the whole game, while putting tremendous pressure on the Owl’s keeper. The final goal of the game came from Cathey’s corner kick, which Elijah Norman came in sailing over the opponents to hit with a backwards header into the back of the net, Eagles final victory of 4-0. JV record now stands at 9-0-1.
With the boys hyped up for their senior night, Varsity took the pitch to face off following, still with some injuries being battled by a few of their starters. Elijah Anderson stepped onto the pitch to start the game for his last time, drawing cheers from the coaches, players, and the stadium, as his senior season had been cut short due to shoulder surgery early on. He was quickly replaced within a minute of the start of the game, but the Eagles were locked in and looking to bring home the victory to honor their seniors. With a tie of 0-0 at halftime, the Eagles were still looking for the game-winning goal for the night, when Levi Toliver came in with one of his massive throw-ins into the 6 box, deflected off an Owl player and bounced back into the net! Own goal for Toliver, Eagles up 1-0! Goalie Wes Robinson made a few great saves to keep the Owls scoreless, and Senior Night was recognized immediately following the victory! Seniors being honored include: Cooper Brackett #3; Elijah Anderson #4; Christian Martinez #6; Wes Robinson #8; Trey Eldridge #28; Koelar Smith #36. Head Coach Justin Smith had this to say following the game, “We love these guys and are excited about their futures, both on and off the pitch! It was fun to celebrate them tonight and get a win for their senior night, but we still have some work to do to get ready for the tournament.
Some things are starting to click for us, so hopefully we can put together our best performance of the season in the knock-out game at Cleveland on Tuesday, May 6th, at 7pm.” Eagle’s record now stands at 5-10.Lady Eagles play their final home game of the season on Friday, May 2nd vs. Chattanooga Prep with games at 5:30 and 7pm.
