Hurricanes Down Eagles 1-0

Rhea County Soccer Falls to East Hamilton on the Road

4-22-25 Ooltewah, TN

The Eagles traveled to East Hamilton to face off against the Wildcats on Tuesday, April 22nd, with just the Varsity playing. Due to some recurring injuries, the Eagles saw 4 of their starting lineup sitting on the bench for the game, so their freshman class stepped up to the plate. The game was back-and-forth, with passing and pressing on both ends, a tied game of 0-0 at halftime. The Eagles came out with more tenacity the second half, winning more balls through the midfield and passing with a few great runs and shots on net but nothing would fall through. About halfway through the second half, the Wildcats took a hard shot on net, which deflected off a defender and unfortunately, changed the angle of the ball that goalie Wes Robinson was diving on, so the ball made it into the back of the net, Wildcats up 1-0. The Eagles never gave up, consistently trying to even up the score, but unfortunately time ran out, final score a loss of 0-1. Eagle’s record now stands at 4-10 with Senior Night recognition on Thursday, April 24th, vs. the Ooltewah Owls, JV at 5:30pm, Varsity at 7pm with senior recognition immediately following.

Side note*my favorite picture of the night is the one where Wes Robinson, our goalie, is jumping in the air grabbing the ball over 2 of our defenders and while the Wildcats are surrounding him trying to score. It was a great save! Also, the player collided with Wes and fell down and didn't get back up, but Wes just shook it off and kept going! Beast!
