Eagles Win 6-2 over McMinn to Run Record to 8-0

Evensville, TN -- The Rhea County High School softball teams is off to great start this season with 8-0 record. Pitching has been a blend of youth and experience with Michaela Taylor, Chelsea Reel and Allie Shaver providing depth at pitching position. Allie Shaver pitched great 7 innings of scoreless relief in the dramatic 6-5 win over Walker Valley. Chelsea Reel had a strong 7 innings of pitching, giving up only 3 runs in a 11-5 win over Ooltewah. That was followed by a strong 7 innings by Taylor in 6-2 win over McMinn. Having 3 reliable pitchers puts Lady Eagles in an envious position. Baily Roberts leads the team with 10 RBI and .520 average. Michaela Taylor is close behind with .500 average and Courtney Wilson has a .414 average. Emma Gentry is close behind Roberts with 9 RBI. The teams is hitting .324, with 7 players averaging over .300 for the year.
There have been some very exciting games so far this season with dramatic 10-9 7 inning win over Bradley with 3 seventh inning runs and most recently a 6-5 win over Walker Valley. The Lady Eagles won 6-2 over Mcminn before heading to Knoxville for weekend tournament at Gibbs. Michaela taylor picked up win for Lady Eagles with 7 innings pitched. She gave up 7 hits and 2 earned runs and 2 walks. She struck out 3 in the game. Emily McClure lead the offense with 3 hits in 3 at-bats, while driving in 2 runs. Emily Ballard also drove home 2 runs in the game. The fourth inning was the difference maker for the Eagles with 4 runs scored. Lady Eagles also benefited from three Lady Cherokee errors.
Rhea County has wins over Oliver Springs, Cleveland, Bradley Central, McMinn(2), Walker Valley, Howard and Ooltewah this season.
