Dayton, TN -- Distinguished Young Woman of Rhea County contestant Kinsley Ervin is daughter of Christie Ervin and Adam Ervin, along with my step parents, Aaron Johnson and Rena Ervin. She has a little sister, Kaylee Ervin. Kinsley went to Rhea Central Elementary School then Rhea Middle and then Rhea County High School. Kinsley attends the Grove and loves her youth group. Kinsley plans for college as of now is to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and study interior design. She is one of 15 competitors in the DYW this year. She will be painting for her talent and she has been painting and doing art since she can't remember.
This years competition will be vastly different because of the restrictions around covid-19. Everything that would normally be done on stage with audience will be videoed and then judges will come to do live interview with each contestant. When the process is finished the judges will review the video to judge the categories. There will be no audience or parents in attendance. Program will utilize Video Format on May 16, 17, 2020.
Kinsley answered some questions before the upcoming non-audience competition.

What are you most nervous about looking forward to the competition?
"I am most nervous about trying to remember all of the fitness routine, but I’m sure once we practice more I will feel more confident. I have never done anything like this before, so it makes me even more excited to participate in DYW."

What is your favorite bible verse/quote?
"My favorite bible verse is Proverbs 16:24, because I think being kind to everyone is so important."
How has covid-19 affected you?
"Covid-19 has affected me in many ways. For example, many plans have been cancelled and things we have all been looking forward to we will never get to experience now, but it has also made me realize how busy the world was and what my priorities were. I was pretty disappointed when I heard we couldn’t do a live performance, but I’m still very thankful we still get to participate in the program."
