2020 Distinguished Young Woman Preview – Natalie Scruggs
May 12, 2020 Dayton, TN --  Natalie Scruggs  daughter of Gary and Adina Scruggs .  She has two brothers, Kendall and Jacob Scruggs.  She attended elementary school at Boyd Buchanan and middle school at Dayton City School before attending Rhea County High School.  She will be singing as her talent.  She has been singing since she was little.  This is new adventure for Natalie, who have never done anything quite like Distinguished Young Woman.  She wants to attend Bryan College and get a drgree in elementary education. Who was your favorite teacher in school? "My favorite teacher was Rusty Revis.  He would always have a smile on his face and had a great sense of humor." Is there a certain section of the competition that makes you the most nervous? "I am most nervous about the fitness part." Do you have friends who have done the program? "Yes my friend Abigail Corvin did the program." Do you have a favorite bible verse? My favorite verse is Psalms 46:5 -  “ god is within her, she will not fall” What part of your life has covid-19 affected the most? "Covid-19 has impacted definitely my social life!!" How dissapointed are you to not be able to perform for live audience and family and friends? "I’m kinda disappointed abt not having a life performance but at the same time kinda relieved I won’t be doing fitness in front of that many people." What are some of your hobbies and interests? "I like driving around and going to sporting events." How did you come to decision to compete in DYW? "I decided to do DYW to be involved in something my junior year!" Did you rediscover an old interest or begin a new hobby during the covid-19 break? "I started redecorating and painting my house!!" If you could have a different talent that the one you have, what would it be? "If I had a different talent than the one I had it would probably be painting." Why should juniors become involved in the program next year? "Juniors next year should definitely do this because you get to know girls you probably would have never talked to." What is your favorite song and favorite book? "Favorite song - graves into gardens by Elevation worship. My favorite book is "Safe haven" by Nicholas Sparks."
