Zach Davis Joins Rhea County Football Staff

Davis Coaching Offensive & Defensive Line At Rhea County

Zack Davis is is currently coaching in his second year as coach of Dayton City School Football has joined the staff of Rhea County Football. He will continue to coach the Sweat Bees this year. Zack will coach offensive and defensive line at Rhea County High School.

Zack is married to Amanda Davis since 2010. They have a son Peyton and daughter Lakelyn aged 9 and 7. Zack is son of Roy and Jenie Daivs. He has two siblings, Sladjuana Matherly and Janah Henry. Zack was born on May 14, 1981.. He graduated Rhea County High School in 1999.

While at Rhea County, Zack played baseball and football. He was a first-baseman for the Eagles as well as a pitcher. Zack played offensive and defensive line for the football team. He earned 1st Team All-Tri-State honors and Honorable Mention All-State as senior for football play.

Davis went on to play football for the University of Tennessee during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He played center and guard on the offensive line.

He transferred to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before the 2001 season. Zack played at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 2001-2003.

Zack was kind enough to answer a few questions about his time in college, his family and his coaching.

Talk about your time at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

"The first year there I averaged around 24 snaps a game as a back up offensive tackle. By the end of the 2001 season I became a starter at right guard on the offensive line. Graduated with a degree in Sociology in 2004."

Do you have any coaches you model your coaching style after?

"I have tremendous respect for Coach Fulmer, who was the head coach while I was at Tennessee. I really like his coaching style and philosophy."

Talk about your coaching career at Dayton City School.

"I began coaching for Dayton City School as an assistant under Jeff Hill in 2019. I coached offensive and defensive line. I continued to coach that position and served as defensive coordinator in 2021. I became head coach in 2022. I continue to coach offensive and defensive line, but also call the offensive plays."

Could you share a little about your favorite things to do outside of football and work?

"I am a member of the Dayton Church of God, The Family Church. I am a huge fan of the Vols, Mocs, Titans and Braves. I enjoy spending time with my wife watching my son play baseball and watching my daughter in tumbling. I like weightlifting, hunting and fishing. I am a huge Disney fan."
