William Max Miller Obituary

May 31, 1942 - July 4, 2024

William Max Miller age 82 of Spring City, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 4, 2024 with his family by his side after a battle with cancer.

He was born on May 31, 1942 to the late William Harding Miller and Winnie Cagle Miller (Rob) Hinds and was a lifetime resident of this area. Max was a graduate of Spring City High School. He worked at La-Z-Boy, retiring after 25 years. Max spent his spare time at Jerry Smith’s Garage and most recently at Hardee’s for early morning coffee. He was of the Baptist faith.

Max was also preceded in death by his brother Jim Miller and his great granddaughter Gracie.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years Emily Thurman Miller of Spring City, Tennessee; his daughter Robin (Billy) Cranfill of Dayton, Tennessee; his son Keith (Dawn) Miller of Dayton, Tennessee; his step-daughter Tammy (Bill) Swafford of Spring City, Tennessee; his sisters Sandra (Dorvin) Reed of Spring City, Tennessee and Brenda (Smokey) Day of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga for their care and compassion to Max and his family.

As per his wishes, there will be no services or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 127, Spring City, Tennessee 37381 in his memory.
