Lady Eagles Lose Big Game to Walker With Late Goal, will host Cleveland on Tuesday 10/8/24 at 7 pm.
Evensville, TN -- Rhea County hosted Walker Valley in a big late season game on Thursday, 10/8/24. In a very physical game, both teams battled to a halftime tie. In the second half there was still no scoring until # 9 Bella Martinez scored the lone goal of the game for Walker Valley with an assist from # 12 Sadie Gibson with 4:26 on the clock. Gibson made the throw-in and Martinez went down inline and sliced the ball over the defender and goalie into the corner of the net. Rhea Could not answer and Walker had a win in a game where the Lady Eagles had chances, but just could not get the ball into the net.
Rhea County finished the regular season in 2nd and will host Cleveland on Tuesday 10/8 at 7pm. Walker Valley will host McMinn on 10/8 at 7pm as well. The winners of those two games will play for the District Championship on Thursday 10/10 and will both advance to the Region semifinals. . On Tuesday night this week, the Lady Eagles won 3-0 over Cleveland.
Coach Katherine Bradley had this to say about the game. "Our girls played really well. We out-possessed, out-shot, and out-played Walker Valley, just couldn’t finish a goal. We had 26 shots to their 5. Jetta Sharp recorded 4 saves for us. We are very excited about the potential of a rematch with Walker Valley and are planning to bring home the District Championship trophy."
