Viola T. Newby age 102 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Golden Years Retirement Resort.

She was born on May 14, 1922 to the late Charles and Lucille McCulleyTreadway and was a lifetime resident of the area. Viola was a graduate of Spring City High School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #210, for 50 years. Viola held several offices and was a member of the Spring City High School Alumni Board. She also helped work at the Rhea County elections. Viola loved music and dancing. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Viola was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City.

Viola is also preceded in death by her husband Earl “Liner” Newby, her daughter Joy Hickman, her son-in-law Tim Hickman, her sisters Ellen Simpson, Cleo Jolley, and Mildred Hieskell, and her brothers Earl and Howard Treadway.

Survivors include her two grandchildren Timothy “Bo” (Blair) Hickman of Jonesborough, Tennessee and Jennifer (Michael) McDaniel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her three great grandchildren Zach (Karleigh) Hancock, Katelyn McDaniel, and Matthew McDaniel; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. to 3 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Hearth Hospice, 1690 25th Street N.W., Cleveland, TN 37311 in her memory.
