Tokiko Sato Jensen, age 94 of Dayton, passed away at Life Care of Rhea County on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. She was born in South Korea on February 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Katsutaro and Toki Sato. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bent Jensen.
Tokiko was a child living in Hiroshima when it was bombed at the end of World War II and fled back to Japan. She was an accomplished ballroom dancer and won numerous awards, was a seamstress in Japan, and a homemaker. She lived in Dayton since 1985, was a member of Silver Sneakers, and attended Grace Bible Church. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, studied His word, and flowed with His kindness.
Tokiko is survived by her daughter, Hisako (Yasuhei) Takeuchi of Japan; her son, Takayuki (Setsuko) Niho of Japan; her five grandchildren, Kyoko Shibasaki, Hiroshi Takeuchi, Tomokazu Niho, Kazue, and Sachiko; and her great-grandson, Shota Shibasaki.
A Service of Remembrance for Tokiko will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home parlor with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating.
