Bulldogs Win: Lady Bulldogs Lose

Spring City, TN -- Spring City hosted Rhea Middle School at the Spring City Elementary School gym in a game between county rivals. The elementary gym provided a look back at history, playing in the old SCMS gym and also provided a larger venue for playing, thus accommodating more fans in a safe manner. The girls game was all Rhea Middle early but Spring City made comeback but Lady Eagles fought off the comeback and won 33-29. Lady Bulldogs had cut the lead to 3 points on a couple of situations, 31-18 in third, and 31-28 with 48 seconds remaining after Kloe Reeves hit a free throw to offset the Summer Jenkins free throws to cut the lead to 2.
Spring City came down and cut lead to 31-29 on free throw make by Jenna Burchard. Lady Eagles turned the ball over and Lady Bulldogs had chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds of the game. But Spring City missed and Kloe Reeves pulled down rebound, turned and found Cammie Ruehling. Ruehling slplit defenders and hit the short jumper for a 33-29 lead that would hold up after two failed attempts by the Lady Bulldogs.
The boys' game was not in contention as Bulldogs tenacious defense fueled several turnovers that Bulldogs converted to points on their end. Final score was 56-13. Caleb Carr, KeShawn Johnson and Ethan Mosley lead the way for Spring City with 16,14 and 11 points. Kilby totaled 10 to lead Rhea Middle.
