Maysa Hampton's Strong Performance Propels Lady Bulldogs to 7-3 Win

Sweetwater, TN - 10/2/23

Spring City Lady Bulldogs Defeat Sweetwater Lady Cats Behind Strong Performance From Maysa Hampton To Claim The Tennessee River Valley Conference Championship!

Maysa Hampton struck out 14 batters as the right-handed pitcher led SC past Sweetwater 7-3 on Monday. Hampton surrendered five hits and three runs over six innings while walking two.

Ella Wilkey collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Wilkey tripled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth.

SC jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Wilkey singled, scoring one run, Ella Mullins singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

SC added another run in the third. Khloe Rector grounded out scoring a run, making the score 6-1

Abbagayle Buffenbarger had a triple, Maysa Hampton had 2 hits also.

Playing their last game for Spring City Middle were, Jaslyn Butler, Faith Davis, Dylan Dyle, Kristalyn Kick,Zoe Reese, Madison Suttles and Ella Wilkey.

After the game coach Mathis shared a few comments on the 2023 season.

"This team struggled a lot this year, but I told them to be true to the course. They played when it counted. We only lost 4 games this year."

"We finally got the right girls in the right spots."

"Maysa Hampton was "lights out" for us throwing the ball. Her defense behind her stepped up when needed."

"It's an end of an era, but I will have them for another four years. I love these girls like my own. They are just like family."

"We had three players, who had never played softball this year. Our third base and short stop positions had never played before. We have turnedd athletes into softball players."

"Olivia Day, who will be senior on our high school team next year was a big help with infield and pitching coaching."
