Spring City, TN -- Spring City Middle hosts Whitwell at home on Thursday, August 29, 2019 on eighth grade night, with 8 pm start time. The Bulldogs will be looking to go to 4-0 on the season after their 32-0 win over Sequatchie Middle last Thursday. Eight grade football and cheer ceremony will be at 7:20 pm and band will be at halftime.
Spring City Middle hosted Sequatching on August 22, 2019. Bulldogs received the opening kickoff. With penalty(illegal procedure), the Bulldogs got a nice start as they started on their own 45 yard line. It took four downs but Bulldogs Hunter Crowe picked up initial first down at the 25 yard line. Crowe picked up another first down before Latron Alloway scored the touchdown with 5:24 left in first quarter. Two point conversion by Crowe made the score 8-0.
Sequatchie returned kickoff to 30 yard line. Sequatchie moved the ball but got greedy and Alloway picked off the pass at the Bulldog 25 yard line to stop the drive. The quarter ended after next play with score 8-0. From the 30 yard line, Hunter Crowe broke through the middle of the defense and headed to sidelines and outrun defenders into endzone for second Bulldog touchdown of the night. Crowe tacked on the two point conversion run and Spring City was up 16-0 with 7:42 left in second quarter.
Bulldogs forced a punt and began with favorable field position at their won 48 yard line. Crowe and Brackett teamed together to move the ball down the field and it was Brackets finding the end zone for the last 10 yards for the touchdown and the 22-0 lead with 26 tics on clock until halftime. Crowe added the conversion run for 24-0 lead that was the halftime score.
On the next possession the Bulldogs held on fourth down(needed one yard) attempt and took over around midfield. Brackett and Crowe moved the ball downt he field and Crowe found the end zone for the 30th point. Jaxon Reed converted the two points on run around left end for extra points and 32-0 lead with 6:34 left in the game. Final score 32-0 Bulldogs win.
