Guthries Enters His 20th Year With Football
Evensville, TN -- Roy Guthrie begins his third year as head coach of Rhea Middle School football this year. Roy begin his football journey about 20 years ago working in auxilary role on Rhea County High School football coach Tim Hammontree in 2003-2004. He began coaching Freshman with coach Loden in 2005-2006. Roy graduatedd from Rhea County High School in 1985 and later graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University. He played football for both schools.
When coach Pemberton came in in 2015, he coached at Spring City Middle School football. He has coached multiple positions on the football field before becoming the head coach for the Rhea Middle School. Guthrie coached under several coaches over the years, including Hammontree, Fitzgerald, Green and Pemberton and now begins coaching under Taylor Harvey at Rhea County. At Rhea County High School football he coaches running backs. He is the Works Based Learning Coordinator.

Guthrie talked a little about his 2024 Rhea Middle School team.
"We have experienced quarterback Carson McVay, D. J. Donegan, Jackson Nelson, Jaden Slater, Mason Cox, , McCarthey Evans. On defese there will be the Villanueva brothers Romero and Edwin as well as Joseph Donegan. In defensive backfield I look for good things from Jayden Estepa, Ean Sherrill, and Sam Day."
