RMS Soccer Earns First Place District Finish

Eagles Win 6-0 At Lake Forest Pushes Record To 8-1

Rhea Middle Boys’ soccer team makes history by cementing their number one seed finish on Friday, April 19th!! This is the first time in school history that the Eagles have finished the regular season in first place and won home field advantage for their playoff and (hopefully) championship games!!  The Eagles traveled to Bradley Central High School to play against Lake Forest, where they kept up the offensive pressure and shots all game long.  The first half had goals by Sawyer Campbell from a Jeremy Perez throw-in, an own goal by Lake Forest, and a powerful shot by Anderson Cathey from a Sawyer Prudhomme assist that had the Eagles ahead 3-0 at halftime.  The second half again was no different, with the Eagles maintaining control of the ball and offensive pressure.  Cathey added another goal early on, Simeon Toliver launched a 35 yard ball to up the score again, and Prudhomme rounded out the last goal of the second half for a final score of 6-0 victory.  The Eagles ended the regular season with a record of 8-1, with 35 goals scored (5 of which were given in a forfeit) and only 3 goals scored against.   The Eagles will face the winner of Monday’s game of the 4 vs. 5 seed (Ocoee vs. Lake Forest) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with their 8th grade night celebration following immediately after.  RCHS Men’s soccer team will also play Cumberland County following that game at 7 p.m. If RMS wins Tuesday’s game, the championship game will be held at Bill Horton Field again on Thursday, April 25th, and will be against the winner of 2 vs. 3’s Monday match-up (Cleveland vs. Athens), time TBD. Please come out and show support for this team that has made school history and is so fun to watch and cheer on!! Let’s go, Eagles!!
