Rhea Middle Wins 21-9 Over Chilhowee
On September 17, 2024, Rhea Middle School softball hosted Chilhowee Middle School on 8th Grade Night for Briley Byrge, Myca Butler and Seninitee Jackson. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, and watched as Chilhowee cut the lead to 10-7 coming into the bottom of the 3rd inning. Lady Eagles outdid their 10 run first inning with an eleven inning 3rd inning with hitting star of the night 8th grader Briley Byrge hitting a home run in both innings. On the night, Briley had 3 hits and 7 RBI, while scoring 4 runs. Her 8th grade friends also contributed to the win with Myca Butler getting 3 hits, driving in 2 runs and scoring 4 runs on the night. The last of the three 8th graders, Seninitee Jackson scored 3 runs on a 1-2 night with 2 walks. Mia Alday and Deliah Johnson also added 2 hits each for the Lady Eagles and Johnson(3) and Alday(2) combined for 5 RBI and 6 runs. Rhea earned their runs with only 3 walks, while belting out 12 hits and 16 RBI on the night and several of the hits were very hard hits, especially Byrge's home runs. Lady Eagles had 3 triples, 2 by Butler and 1 by Bristol Lane. Madison May pitched 3 innings for Rhea and picked up the win, while Myca Butler pitched the 4th and final inning in a shortened game.
Before the game, the 3 8th graders each were celebrated by those in attendance and coaches. Serinitee Jackson was escorted by Monticie and Shelby Jackson. Myca was escorted by Keith and Stacy Butler. Briley Byrge was escorted by Matt and Kelli Hill.
