RMS Picks Up Wins Over Ocoee and McCallie
3/9/23 Evensville, TN
Rhea Middle School baseball opened the 2023 season with wins over Ocoee Middle and McCallie. Both games were played at Rankin Field, the normal home of the Rhea County High School baseball team. Coach Tim Gearin is back at the helm this year and is assisted by Steven Kinney. The Eagles opened the season with an 8-2 win over Ocoee Middle. Big 7 run third-inning propelled the Eagles to the win. Tilley and Pendergrass combined to limit Ocoee to 6 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 10. The Eagles made the most of 6 hits and 7 walks. Pelfrey had 2 hits to lead Rhea. Pelfrey and Pendergrass had doubles.
Rhea Middle's second game was much different than the first, as the Eagles survived 5-4. Evans, Shaver and Kinney combined to limit Ocoee to 4 hits and 0 earned runs. The trio gave up 7 walks, while striking out 7. The Eagles used 7 hits and 3 walks to score five runs. Pendergrass and Schmitt had 2 hits each to lead Rhea Middle. Rhea goes to Soddy to play Soddy Middle with varsity only game scheduled for 4:30 pm on Monday 3/20/23.
