Eagles Look For Win in First Home Game: Look to Continue Energy From Red Bank Game
Evensville, TN -- Rhea County plays their first home game of the season on Friday, September 6, 2024. Eagles will look to continue the momentum from their 35-7 win over Red Bank against Knoxville Central, a team that comes in with 1-1 record on the season. Central began with a 31-12 win over Fulton, but then dropped their game to Maryville 31-0. Despite the difference in talent, this is not a good springboard game for Knox Central coming into the Rhea County Game. The Bobcats beat the Eagles 14-7 last season. Crowe and Potts were rushing leaders and Eagles only passed 4 times in the game. On defense Ace Robinson(12) and Hunter Crowe(11) lead the Eagles' defense. Dawson Mickel had the lone score for the Eagles.
Bobcats' head coach is Kevin Lane, who is in his first year leading Central. He began his coaching career as staff member for Central in 2003. Most recently he served as defensive coordinator at Bearden the last two seasons. The Bobcats will have Jayedyn Harris leading the ground game. In their opener he gained 137 yards. Always dangerous Javaston Badgett had a 70-yard kickoff return and is a threat. Quarterback Kaden Long, is in his first year as starting quarterback.
Defense will come to play vs Central and Eagles will be looking for more great play from Ace Robinson who was tied for Kaden Knox for leading tackler against Red Bank with 13 tackles. Robinson also had a tackle for loss. Another good game from the offensive and defensive line would also boster the Eagles chance for the win.
On offense, Eagles will again look to be potent on the ground behind Odum and Ford and in the air behind Carr. It will be great to see the Eagles at home before hitting the road for 2 more away games after the Central game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
