Rhea Drops Game to Kingston 3-2

3/11/24 Evensville, TN -- Rhea County High School baseball dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Kingston on Monday, 3/11/24 in a varsity contest. Rex Pendergrass opened for Eagles and James Lane got the start for Kingston.

Kingston began the first inning with 2 runners on but Pendergrass struck out Ladd, leaving 2 runners stranded. The Eagles went down 1-2-3 in the first inning as did Kingston in the top of 2nd. The Eagles plated a run in the second as Kade Houston drew a walk and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Butler for the 1-0 lead after 2 innings. Rivers led off the 3rd inning for Kingston with a hit and scored on a hit by Herrell as Kingston tied the score 1-1. Both teams went 1-2-3 in the fourth inning.

The second batter of the 5th had a solid hit for Kingston and McAmes followed that with hit to setup Kinston with runners at 1st and 2nd before Lanye walked to load the bases. Harrell walked to force a run for the 2-1 lead for Kingston. Kingston appeared to have taken 3-1 lead on sharp infield out by Hester but Layne walled called out for runners interference at 2nd to end the inning.

The Eagles went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 5th. Kingston scored another run to take lead 3-1 as Ladd led off the inning with a hit-by-pitcher and scored later in the inning. Dawson Mickel scored on Rex Pendergrass' single to close the gap to 3-2 after 6 innings. The Eagles had one runner on in the 7th, but were unable to plate Hall and lost 3-2 to Kingston.
