Allen Graham, Phillip Hicks and "Moe" Shirley Are Celebrated for their Wrestling Contributions

2/1/24 Evensville, TN

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, Rhea County Wrestling held senior night as they competed against Ooltewah, Sale Creek and Silverdale Academy. Before the competition, they took time to say thankyou to their three senior wrestlers, Allen Graham, Phillip Hicks and "Moe" Shirley.

Allen Graham, who wrestles in the 126 pound weight class and came into Senior Night with a 14-5 record. Allen was escorted by his mother, Connie Millsap. Allen has been on the wrestling team for 4 years and also competes in cross country and track and field at Rhea County High School. His favorite memory was qualifying for the State Tournament in 2022-23 season. After graduation his plans are to enlist in the Navy.

Phillip Hicks who wrestles presently in the 144 weight class has a current record of 6-2 going into the Senior Night matches. Phillip was escorted by his parents Hugh and Christiana Hicks. Phillip has competed in wrestling at RCHS for 2 years. His top accomplishment has been his continued improvement in wrestling. After graduation, his plans are not settled, but could include the military or local job market.

Stuart "Moe" Shirley currently competes in the 235 pound weight class and had a record of 8-2 going into the Senior Night matches. Moe was escorted by his grandmother Debbie Shirley. This is Moe's first year competing in wrestling. Moe also competes in football and baseball. Moe is very proud that he earned an All-State Spot on the football team. His post-graduation plans are to go to college and pursue football.
