Eagles Limit Owls to 28 Yards Rushing: Martin Accounts For 4 Touchdowns

Ooltewah, TN -- Rhea County High School football ran their winning streak to three games with convincing 35-7 win over Ooltewah on the road on Friday, September 21, 2021. The win continued a winning streak for Eagles against the Owls that goes back to 2015-2016 season when the Eagles last lost 16-0 to Ooltewah. Eagles will be at home on Friday, September 24th against 2-2 Red Bank with a 7:30 pm kickoff. Red Bank will be coming off a 23-21 loss to Chattanooga Central last Friday.

Eagles held the Owls to 28 yards rushing on 19 carries on the night, while rushing for 206 yards on 44 carries. Ethan Davis led the way with 82 yards rushing with one touchdown and Kaleb Martin accounted for four touchdowns on the night with three rushing and one through the air. Kaleb's favorite target was sophomore Briley Mayberry who had all four Martin completions for 133 yards and one touchdown. On defense, Drew Fisher continued his dominance of Ooltewah as he led team with 8 tackles. Drew had led the Eagles in tackles against the Owls in all three games over the last three years. Austin Brackett was next with 7 tackles and Bryce Dupree, Trent Edwards and Garrett Ramsey each had 6 tackles. Jadden Pankey returned an interception 50 yards in the only turnover the Eagles came up with on the night. Time of possession was fairly close and total yards was not as uneven as the score with Eagles winning overall yardage 339 to 202 Quarterback Austin Robinson had 174 yards on 18/32 pass attempts with interception and Christian Doty had 10 catches for 110 yards.

Eagles opened scoring with Ethan Davis 2 yard touchdown run with 4:15 left in first quarter. In the second quarter, Kaleb Martin found Briley Mayberry for a 28 yard touchdown pass completion and Cooper Ruehling split the goal-posts for 14-0 lead. Kaleb next found the end zone with a trio of 1 yard touchdown plunges with 3:20 in the 2nd quarter, 5;27 in the third quarter and 8 seconds left in third quarter. Owls found the end zone late with a 3 yard pass from Robinson to Doty for the final score of 35-7.

After the game Laton "Tank" Alloway said, "It felt great(out there) tonight. I should get to take cast off this week and have my whole hand back. (On the fumble) I didn't know the defender was behind me and he ripped it out."

Jadden Pankey said, "In the Anderson County game we were struggling, but got back in practice and did what we were supposed to do, and came out her and executed."

Austin Brackett said, "Together as a team we felt great out there. This was a big district game and prove to everybody and prove what we can do."

Drew Fisher said, "We always know that coming down here will be a business trip. We have coming together recently. We have Rex back. We are like a family out there."
