Lady Eagles End Weeks With Bledsoe Win for 2-2 Week
Evensville, TN, 4/18/24 -- Rhea County Lady Eagles softball completed a 4-game week with a win over Bledsoe by 8-5 score on Thursday April 18, 2024 at home. Rhea County hit for a big 6 run third inning to take a 7-0 lead. Bledsoe responded with 4 runs over the next two innings vs Rhea's one run to cut lead to 8-4. Bledsoe added one run in top of 7th in the 8-5 Lady Eagle win.
Rhea used 10 hits to earn the 8 runs and Bledsoe scored 6 runs on 5 hits. Rhea County committed 2 errors and Bledsoe one. Lockhart, Day and Wilson each had 2 hits. Wilson had a double and Day a triple for the Lady Eagles. Shaver and Kosek each had 2 RBI for Rhea. Day pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits, 5 runs and 2 earned runs. She walked 5 and struck out 7.
Bledsoe had hits from Swafford, Holland(2), K. Holland, Potter and Hankins. M. Holland had a double for Lady Warriors lone extra-base hit. Potter gave up 10 hits for 8 runs(7 earned). Potter gave up no walks, while striking out 7.
Cleveland 3 Rhea 1
Rhea County hosted Cleveland on 4/16/24 in a district game. Cleveland jumped on top 1-0 in first inning and added a second run in 5th inning. Lady Eagles scored in the 6th inning and Lady Raiders responded with another run in top of 7th. Chelsea Reel led Lady Eagles with 3 hits on the day and she scored the Eagles lone run. Allie Shaver picked up the other Rhea hit. Olivia Day pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs, while walking 4 runners and striking out 1. Allie Shaver pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief, giving up 1 run on 1 hit, a home run by Allen for Lady Raiders. Allie Shaver had the lone extra base hit, a double for Lady Eagles.
Cleveland made the most of 4 hits on the night with Allen, Mason, Nelson and Patterson. O'Bryan led Cleveland with 2 runs and Allen picked up the lone RBI on her home run.
Walker Valley 11 Rhea County 2
On Wednesday, April 17th, Rhea hosted Walker Valley in a district game. Walker Valley jumped on Lady Eagles for 3 first-inning runs. Lady Eagles responded with 2 runs in the 2nd inning to close the gap. Lady Mustangs hit the Lady Eagles with 6 runs over 2 innings late in game(Innings 5/6) to take 9-2 lead. They added 2 more runs for the 11-2 finals. Five different Lady Eagles had hits in the game. Lockhart, Day, Reel, Brown and Kosek each had hits, with Brown's double the lone extra-base hit. Allie Shaver and Brooke Hennessey were on the mound for the Lady Eagles, with Shaver giving up 7 runs and Hennessey giving up 5 runs.
Lady Mustangs used 11 hits to score 11 runs in the game. Four Lady Mustangs, Blackwell, Davenport, Woodall and Oran had 2 hits each. Oran had a double and Davenport added a home run for Walker Valley. Presswood picked up the win for Walker with a five inning stint, giving up 2 runs, while striking out 6.
Rhea County 4 Kingston 2
Rhea County won 4-2 over Kingston in home game on Monday, April 15, 2024. Both teams scored 2 runs in the 4th inning, but Lady Eagle responded with 2 runs in bottom of 5th for the final 4-2 margin. Allie Shaver pitched 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk, while striking out 7. Lady Eagles turned 4 hits into 4 runs on the night with Olivia Day provided a triple for the Lady Eagles. Olivia Day had 2 hits for the Lady Eagles and Lockhart and Reel added singles for Rhea County.
Kingston(Roane County) had 4 hits and 2 runs for the game with Presley and Newman each getting doubles and Hamilton and Beaunya each had single. Presley pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 runs and 4 hits and1 walk, while striking out 14.
