10/8/22

Evensville, TN -- Rhea County Lady Eagles opened the district tournament on Saturday against Bradley Central with early 4 pm start time. Eagles won 5-0 as Anna Grace Fraley and the defense kept Bradley Central out of the net. Scoring goals for Lady Eagles were Kloe Reeves, Emma Reeves, Maddie Neal and Laurel Butt(2 goals). Butt's 2 goals pushed her season total to 28. With the win the Lady Eagles move on in the tournament and play at McMinn County on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 with 7 pm start in Mcminn County. Lady Eagles played Mcminn to open their district play back on September 1 and the Lady Cherokees won 5-3 in a game closer than the final score. Lady Eagles were tied with McMinn 202 with 26 minutes to go. Lady Eagles just missed on corner kick twice. McMinn scored on penalty kick to go up 3-2 and added two more goals for 5-3 win. In that game Lurel Buut scored twice, once on penalty kick and the other on assit from Savanah Tilley. Kloe Reeves scored the other goal with assist from Tilley. That seemed like a long time ago.

Coach Bradley said of the game, "Overall we have a young team(6 sophomores and 1 freshman) and we are dealing with some injuries and fewer subs. All of our girls are working very hard and I"m extremely proud of them. It's touch to lose any game, but district games really sting. We are looking forward to possible rematch when tournament time rolls around."

Tonight, coach Bradley and the Lady Eagles get that rematch she wanted. McMinn has had a very good year also. Should be a very exciting game even with school out this week, should be a good crowd travel over to Athens for the game.
