Rhea County wins 3-1 over East Hamilton; Face Walker Valley in Finals
Ooltewah, TN 10/16/23
Rhea County High School Lady Eagles moved into uncharted waters with their Monday night win over East Hamilton to move into the Region Finals for Region 3AAA, a first for Rhea County. Rhea moves on to play Walker Valley, in a rematch of the district finals. Lady Eagles will be looking for a better result as Lady Mustangs won 2-0 in a defensive battle. The Region Finals game will be at Walker Valley on Wednesday night with 7 pm start-time.
Rhea 3 East Hamilton 1
It was East Hamilton with the early goal to take the 1-0 lead over the Lady Eagles. East Hamilton keep the lead until around the 6:13 mark when Laurel Butt put in a penalty kick to tie the game and that score stood at the half.
Lady Eagles scored both second half goals early and in a short span with goals around the 36 and 32 minute mark. Laurel Butt and Kloe Reeves scored the goals for the Lady Eagles. Anna Grace Fraley and the defense had the second half shutout on defense.
Coach Katherine Bradley said, "We made some adjustments, the girls encouraged each other and knew the adjustments and were ready to play."
Goalkeeper Anna Grace Fraley said, "We switched our position and played our game like we normally do."
