Matthew Rothwell Earns Medalist Honors For Both Matches

Dayton, Tn -- Rhea County High School golf team played at Spring Brook County Club on a 36 par course vs McMinn County and Meigs County on Monday, Ausgust 23, 2021. McMinn County shot a 183 to edge out the Eagles, who shot a 184 and Meigs County shot a 196. Matthew Rothwell shot a 39 for Medalist Honors for the match. Blake Wheat shot a 50 and Brayden Reel shot a 47. Nolar Purser also shot a 48 s the 4th golfer(not count toward team score).

With the loss the Eagles' record dropped to 2-2. The girls' team lost their match with a 109 score and Rebecca Rogers shot a 49 for low medalist honors and Nikitta Pilcher shot a 60. McMinn shot a 102 to win the matchup. Girls' record for season went to 0-3.

On Tuesday Rhea County competed against Ooltewah in the par 36 course on the fron nine at Harrison Bay. Matthew Rowell had his low nine hole score of the season with an even par 36 to earn low medalist. Blake Wheat shot a 47 and Aaron Heimel shot a 47 for a team total score of 183. Ooltewah edged out the Eagles with a 182 score. Tough losses for Rhea County with two one point losses on the week. Eagles record dropped to 2-3.

Rhea County girls shot a 109 against Ooltewah with Rogers shooting 49 and Nikitta Pilcher shooting a 60. The Ooltewah team shot a 97 for the win. Lady Eagles record dropped to 0-4.
