New Coaches, New Offense, New Hope For 2024 Season

Evensville, TN -- Rhea County Embarks on the 2024 Season on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Soddy Daisy. Soddy will be the first time new head coach Taylor Harvey and his staff see how all the months of preparation translate in their real football season. Behind the Eagles are spring and summer workouts, 7 on 7 scrimmages and full scrimmages. Tonight on the road, the coaches, players and fans will see how the rebuild has gone. Rebuilding the roster from 30 to 74 has been a long process. Learning a new offense has benn another process. Establishing a relationship with new players and new coaches is yet another.

Eagles will mostly be in the shotgun this year. There will be more passing than in the last 11 years. Eagles has some talent at running back and look for Eagles to continue to use the run as primary attack. On defense, coach Harvey has indicated he looks for players playing fast and with energy and running to the ball. This team will be learning every week and getting better. With all the changes made, it will take time for the team to evolve into what it will be at playoff time.

Caleb Carr has shown great improvement over the summer and has the enthusiastic support of coach Harvey. Coach Harvey said in previous interview, "I intend to create disciplined team and build relationships with players, coaches and the community." Coach Harvey is a big proponent of film study. Tonight the Eagles will create film for study for the next game.

Rhea County won 34-0 over Soddy last season. Soddy went a 3-7 in 2023-24. Gone is Ethan Davis, who accounted for 207 overall yards and 161 on the ground. Gone are Cam Potts and Hunter Crowe, who rushed for another 165 yards. Quarterback Caleb Carr is back for his senior year. In the Soddy game, he threw 2 passess to Ethan Davis for 46 yards. The leading tackler for that game, Ace Robinson will be on the field tonight. Eagles will have lots of experience on the line on both sides of the ball. Eagles have show the ability to put the ball into the endzone via the ground and the air in preseason action.
