RCHS Eagles Soccer Downs Bears 2-0

Lopez and Henriquez Score Goals for Rhea vs Bradley

Eensville, TN 3/26/24 -- RCHS Eagles faced off at home on Tuesday night, March 26th, after a rainy day that cleared off in time for the games. The JV started the battle against Bradley Central at 5:30, fighting it out all game, back and forth, but ended up with a tough loss of 2-0.

Varsity followed at 7pm and started off letting the Bears know they were in it to win it.  The Eagles kept the offensive pressure up in the first half, finally scoring off of a Levi Walton pass to Gio Lopez inside the 18 box, which Lopez buried with power in the back of the net with about five minutes left in the first half.  The second half saw some corner shots and drives from the Bears but the defensive pressure and goalie Wes Robinson kept the ball out of the Eagles’ net and was distributed back up top for some more drives to Bradley’s side of the field.  Koelar Smith had a left side drive up the field with about 13 minutes left in the half, crossed it beautifully over the 18 to the far side of the net which Steven Henriquez sprinted in to finish it off with a kick and run into the net. Final score of 2-0 for the Eagles.

Senior Levi Walton had this to say following the game, “It was great to see our whole team dig in and push hard to the end of the game and to see our sophomores step up and put the ball in the back of the net!”  The Eagles now stand at 4-2-1 for the season so far and travel to William Blount High School on Saturday for a game at noon.
