RCHS Angler Will Travis Sign with Bryan College

Rhea County Angler Stays Close to Home Waters

Evensville, TN -- Will Travis signed scholarship papers with Bryan College before a group of coaches, family, friends, fellow anglers and students. Will has been fishing since he was a young man. He is in the midst of his senior season. He will stay close to home and close to his home lake with his signing with Bryan. Will is another of those student-athletes who will represent Rhea County High School well at the next level.

Bryan College Angler Coach Mike Keen said, "I got acquainted with Will(Travis) a few years back. I have asked a lot of people about Will Travis and he is a fine christian young man. He will be a great fit for Bryan College and expect him in short time be one of the leaders on our team."

Former coach Brian Derlak said, "This is an easy one here. To have such a high caliber student-athlete like Will Travis in boat with David(Derlak) was great. He has seen me at my best and my worst. One of the best memories that I have ever had were in a boat with Will. It was a day that sucked all day, but all of a sudden, it began to come together. On the very last cast of the day, Will throws his jig out there and says, "bug um", that was his favorite word. He landed a seven pounder on the last cast of the day. That's one of those things you write a story about. I am truly happy for Will and the Travis family."

I had a chance to ask Will a few questions, and I was impressed with the maturity of Will and his answers were well spoken and from the heart.
