Obituary for Wayne Clay Henderson

May 17, 1964 - March 25, 2024

Wayne Clay Henderson, age 59 of Dayton, passed away at his home on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born in Kansas City, KS, on May 17, 1964. He was the son of Clay and Barbara (Sylva) Henderson, who both survive him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sylva of Pleasanton, KS, and Rev. and Mrs. Carles Henderson of Evensville Mountain.

Wayne lived in Dayton most of his life, was a 1982 graduate of Rhea County High School, and was employed for 15 years as a mechanic at Henderson Farms. He liked to fish and work on cars and attended Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is survived by his wife of 27 years, Darlene (Calbaugh) Henderson; his two children, Dakota (Julia) Henderson and Megan (Thomas) Poole; his mother-in-law, Carlen Osborne; his two granddaughters, Annie Poole and Khloe Henderson; his brother, Allen (Vangie) Henderson; his sister, Carolyn Poteet; his nieces and one nephew; his best friend, Juice Thurman, all of Dayton; and his special pup, Pancake.

Funeral services for Wayne will be in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 12:00 noon with Rev. Carroll Henderson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Henderson Cemetery on Evensville Mountain.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN, where they will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, after 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home parlor.
