Melrose Mickel passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Rhea Medical Center. She was 97 years old. A life long resident of Rhea County, she spent 41 years working at Robinson Manufacturing as a seamstress. Melrose also worked for the Rhea County School system for 10 years. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist church where she loved spending time learning about the Lord she loved and served so faithfully all her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; George and Elsie Stinnett Mickel, sister; Myrtice Peavyhouse, and brothers; Kenneth, Clarence, Marvin and Clyde Mickel.
Ms. Mickel is survived by three sisters; Willie Mae Swafford of Dayton, Georgia Locke of Evensville and Lois (Jeff) Coppinger of Graysville, brothers; Felix Mickel of Evensville, Gene Mickel of Whitwell, Jimmy (Sandra) Mickel, Bobby (Janice) Mickel, Rick (Yvonne) Mickel and Sam (Virginia) Mickel all of Dayton, TN, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11AM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Rothwell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Buttram Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 3-8PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home.
