M. Jewell Frazier, age 80 of Dayton Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, September 20, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Monroe County on December 21, 1943, the daughter of the late Thomas Ross Cook, Sr. and Lula (Lowry) Cook. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, T. R. Cook, Eula Hagy, Carson Cook, Mary Rose Moore, Joyce Sweis, Nola Schaffer, Quincetta Bookout, and Gena Robin Smith.
Jewell’s early childhood was spent working on the family farm. She excelled in sports, and when she graduated from high school, she earned a scholarship to Nashville Business College where she was a member of the team that won the 1962 National Championship in women’s basketball. She was employed by Modine Manufacturing Company in Knoxville as an assembler. She was a devout Christian, and she wore her faith daily. She was a member of Ogden Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was an AWANA leader.
Jewell is survived by her husband of 35 years, Freddy George Frazier of Dayton Mountain. George was the love of her life, and they took such great care of each other throughout their marriage. George was especially sweet to her the last part of her life and is a shining example of how you should love your spouse. Jewell was blessed with three children, Dwight (Rachel) Teffeteller of Knoxville, LeAnn (Dennis) Poland of Dayton, and Becky (Ken) McCarter of Sevierville; her two step-daughters via marriage, Janet (Chris) Smith of Tellico Plains and Rhonda (Dusty) Irwin of Knoxville; her grandchildren, Laurie Stetter, Jessica Stokely, Leilani Ridenour, Juniper Teffeteller, Kendall Cody, Noah Teffeteller, Casey Irwin, Ben Irwin, Evan Irwin, Erin Shoates, Kathryn Fillmore, and Jake Smith; and her ten great-grandchildren.
There will be a Gathering Time for Jewell in the funeral home parlor on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
