October 1, 1937 - August 17, 2024

Levy J. Chavis age 86 of Grandview, Tennessee died on Saturday, August 17 2024 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.

He was born on October 1, 1937 in Livingston, South Carolina to the late Levy Lee and Pauline Williamson Chavis. Levy grew up in South Carolina and moved to Grandview in 1955. He worked at the Southern Silk Mill, Kayser Roth, and owned and operated Grandview Restaurant until he retired in 2010. Levy loved to fish, work in his yard, and tinker with his lawnmower and truck. He attended Christian Fellowship Church in Grandview. 

Levy was also preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Mathis Chavis, grandson Tyler Reed, brothers Carol Chavis and Lee Roy Chavis, sister Flonnie Hillis and stepmother Beulah Chavis Ingram.

Survivors include his children Freida (David) Reed of Grandview, Tennessee, Freddy Chavis of Dayton, Tennessee, and Terry (Pat) Chavis of Spring City, Tennessee; his step-sisters Maggie Young and Lillie Feftner both of Michigan; and his four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 3:00 P.M in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. David Smith officiating.   Interment will follow in the Mt. Sulphur Cemetery in Grandview.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
