Rhea County Basketball Gets Win On Road With 33-12 Second Half Push

February 8, 2024, Athens, Tn. -- Rhea County played on the road at McMinn County as regular season winds down with a final game in Cleveland schedule on Friday. Lady Eagles began game with a couple of three-point baskets by Lockhart and Ruehling to take 6-2 lead early. Game remained close with Lady Eagles up 8-7 with 4 minutes left in quarter and Lady Cherokees took the lead 12-11 with 2:21 left. Cammie Ruehling hit her second three of the quarter(36 second mark) for a 16-12 first quarter advantage for Rhea.

Elliot hit for 9 first half points to keep Lady Cherokees close as half ended 27-20 in favor of Lady Eagles. The third quarter saw the game swing heavily in Rhea County's favor behind a trio of long bombs by Lakyn Lockhart and a 17-5 advantage in the quarter and an overall 44-25 lead at the end of three. Last quarter was a low scoring affair with 7-6 advantage for McMinn for the 50-32 final score. Lockhart led Rhea with 16 points and Elliott led McMinn with 14 points.
