Rhea County Goes 3-0 with win over Sweetwater

Evensville, TN -- The Rhea County Lady Eagles ran their record to 3-0 with home opening win vs Sweetwater on November 22, 2019. On the road the Lady Eagles had won at Walker Valley and at Ooltewah. The Lady Eagles continued their streak of double digit wins with the 62-30 win. Previously they won at Ooltewah 80-21 and at Walker Valley 69-49.
Against Sweetwater, the Lady Eagles took control of the game in the first quarter with 18-6 advantage and continued to build on the lead until the final 62-30 score. Mallory Hampton had great game as she scored 27 points to lead the way and she played her normal aggressive defense, coming away with several steals in the game. Joining her in double figures was Macy Welch with 10 points. Maddie Taylor and Maddie Smith added 8 and 6 points. Rounding out the scoring was McKinley Mathis 4, Emma Gentry 2, Emily McClure2 and Haley Cameron 3 points.
Sweetwater 69 Rhea County Boys 36
Rhea County lost 69-36 in their home opener after getting their first win of the season at Ooltewah with a 53-42 win behind 28 points from Ricky Guthrie. Eagles began season with 83-48 loss at Walker Valley.
Sweetwater held Eagles to 13 points, while scoring 13 for the first quarter lead. Eagles played better in second quarter with 14-9 margin by Sweetwater. Wildcats used 22-4 third quarter to take control of the game and Rhea County won the final quarter 10-8 to give the final score of 69-36. Ricky Guthrie lead the Eagles with 14 points. Hunter Brody 9, Carter Rekoske 6, Tyler Dupre 5 and Austin Bracket 2, rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.
