Kevin Whitson Jr. Begins Second Year on Rhea County Football Staff

Kevin Coaches Linebackers and Running Backs for the Eagles

August 17, 2023, Evensville, TN

Kevin Whitson Jr., age 23, begins his second year as Rhea County football assistant coach at Rhea County High School This year. This is Kevin's first coaching job out of college. He coaches inside linebackers and running backs. He is also an assistant coach at Spring City Middle School. Kevin graduated from Bledsoe County High School and University of Cumberlands. He graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 2018. Played football (Linebacker and Fullback). Kevin attended college at The University of the Cumberlands where he played football for four years (Linebacker) and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Sports Science. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in physical education.  When he is not teaching or coaching, Kevin enjoys weightlifting. During his college career Kevin was a 4x NAIA Mid South Academic All Conference selection and a 1x NAIA Academic All American selection. 

When asked how he ended up at Rhea, Kevin said, "The reason I find myself coaching in Rhea County is because I wanted to be a part of a school system that completely supports the athletic department and truly cares for every student in the system. The opportunity to learn and work under Coach Mark Pemberton has been an incredible start to my career as well."
