January 14, 1952 - September 26, 2024
Joe Russell Dyer of Dayton, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with his beloved wife, Leta, on September 26, 2024. The son of the late Norman Dyer and Gwen (Meek) Dyer, who survives him, Joe was born in Dayton on January 14, 1952. He and the late Leta (Gravett) Dyer were married for nearly 50 years.
He served his country in the Air Force, worked hard his whole life as a mechanic and a truck driver, and retired from La-Z-Boy in 2017. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed fishing in the Tennessee River. He attended First Church in Dayton.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy (Michael) Novak of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, and Kimberly (Brandon) Prudhomme of Dayton; eight grandchildren, Donald (Trey), Leta, Elizabeth, Isaac, Quintin and Trenton Hixon and Sawyer and Hutch Prudhomme; his mother, Gwen (Meek) Dyer; his brother, Jimmy Dyer; and his sister, Sherri (David) Creason, all of Dayton.
He was the BEST daddy and papa! He lived his life serving his family and taught us the value of hard work and to enjoy the simple life. He will be missed.
Services for Joe will be held in the Vanderwall Funeral Home parlor on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Layne Pennington officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. immediately before the service. He will be laid to rest with military honors next to his wife at Spivey Cemetery in Dayton.
