Spring City, TN - Jessica Hill is on of many young people pursing her passion with photography.  There are many out there in the community who have a passion for taking pictures.  Photography is much more than taking pics.  It takes some experience and hard work to be a good photography. Though the equipment has improved so much, there is more opportunity, and more competition.  So what makes someone want to be a photographer?

Jessica graduated from Rhea County High School in 2000 and attended Chattanooga State Community College and now works for Telamon Corporation as a Health/Disabilities Specialist.

Like many photographers these days, she has a "real job" that provides for her needs, but she finds time to do photography as a way to feed her passion.  She has a business JDH Photography and she enjoys people and taking pictures.  She began a facebook page for JDH Photography in January and the word is getting out.  Jessica was kind enough to answer a few questions for Rhea County Magazine.

Jessica, when did you become interested in photography?

"I’ve always had a heart for photography even at a young age but about 3 years I picked up an actual camera.  About a year ago someone very special to me pushed me to put myself out there by creating a photography page online and I’ve been at it ever since!  I’ve always loved to see people happy and smiling! In a world where most the things you see online, news, etc is bad. so in doing this I see a bit of happiness in people around me! It’s truly a blessing."

Do you plan of making it a full-time business?

"Not at this time.  I have a full time job as a Health/Disability Specialist at a Head Start where I have worked for 11 years. I have my Health Service Credential from National Head Start Academy and also my medical assistant license through Ashworth University."

"Photography is my passion so I’ve turned it into a hobby aside from my employment.  I really enjoy doing senior pictures, but I love all kinds of pictures.  I would love to go full time in photography just still have lots to learn so just now getting my name out there."

Did you attend any training or receive any mentoring from anyone?"

"No, I just grabbed my camera one day and started snapping."

What are the basics of photography that you had to learn in orer to become a better photographer?

"Having the knowledge of how to properly work your camera, so you are able to capture the photograph with the right lightening, shutter speed, etc.

What is your least favorite location/lighting siutation you prefer for photography?

"Inside is my least favorite."

What are some of your favorite types of photography?

"I love nature photography! I hike a lot in my spare time, and my camera usually goes with me.  I love all pictures even with myself included in them. I believe pictures are memories to keep."

My clients started with family, then my friends and then once I put my work out on my FB page so people could see my work they just started reaching out and giving me the opportunity to capture their precious memories for them. I’m very grateful for them giving me the chance to do that for them

One of Jessica's photoshoots was a Spooky Birthday party an the mother sent me the pics, which made for a cute music video.  I have included a few of those.  For more pics visit her photography facebook page.  I also asked Jessica for her favorite picture and that one is the nature scene below.

This is my fav nature scene. It was so very very peaceful and right here at home. Beautiful country
