Jean Chavis age 78 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at her residence.

She was born on May 5, 1947 to the late Charlie B. and Lucy Delk Gunter and was a lifetime resident of the area. Jean attended school in Rhea County. She worked at Kayser Roth Manufacturing for over 40 years until her retirement in 2009. Jean loved to walk and work crossword puzzles. She was of the Baptist faith.

Jean is preceded in death by the father of her children Lucious Davis, her daughter Stacy Davis, her brothers and sisters Treva Gunter, Reva Threet, Dee Gunter, Robert Gunter, Flony Couch, and Carolyn Montgomery, and her grandson Justin Cody Davis.

Survivors include her companion Gerald Reed of Spring City, Tennessee; her children Jefferson (Donna) Davis of Dayton, Tennessee, Teresa (Don) Davis Winstead of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Patricia (Terry) Chavis of Spring City, Tennessee; her brothers Orien (Ellen) Gunter of Spring City, Tennessee and Roger (Becky) Gunter of Evensville, Tennessee; her sister Sina Webb of Spring City, Tennessee; her nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Hurd officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
