Hardin Valley's Defense Shuts Down Rhea County 54-42

Evensville, TN -- Hardin Valley played Rhea County in championship game of the Rhea County Christmas Invitational on Friday night Hardin Valley used four three-point baskets to take a 11-6 lead after one quarter of play. Caleb Carr led the Eagles with 8 second-quarter points and with 4;24 a Braylon Geer layup knotted the score at 18-18. The Hawks' Ben Brophy hit a late 3 to give Hardin the 24-21 lead at the half.
In the third period, Hardin Valley took a 31-23 lead with 5;36 left on the clock. With 4 minutes remaining in quarter Smith rebounded and fed a streaking Dupre, who sank the layup to bring Eagles within 31-26. By the end of the quarter, the Hawks had pushed the lead to 8 with a 37-29 lead.
Early in the 4th, Bryce Dupre's corner 3 closed the gap to 5 again(40-35) and Logsdon did the same at the 4:36 mark(43-38). The Hawks went on a 7-1 run to push the lead to 50-39. Dupre scored the last points of the game for the the Eagles with 1:11 to pull Eagles within 50-42. Hawks added four more points to set the final score at 54-42.
Three Eagles made the All-Tournament team: Hank Logsdon, Bryce Dupre and Caleb Carr.
Four Hawks made the All-Tournament Team: Ben Brophy(MVP), Amadou Seck, Hakeem Rashid and Jack Smith.
